Upcoming Classes in Healing

Saturday, Jan 8th, 6pm PST: Battle Healing Basics, by Sunoril

Sunday, Jan 9th, 3pm PST: Basic Battle Smarts: A Field Experience for Healers and Fighters, by Sunoril and Paranoidos

I asked Sunoril and Paranoidos to do this followup class, suggesting that they provide live advice and critique, and demonstrate good basic healing and fighting tactics in practice. While Sunoril's first class may include a field trip, I felt the last time he taught it, there wasn't enough time for the field trip, and healers had only begun to understand what he had talked about. So I encourage healers to attend both classes, to hear the basic ideas and then see how they apply in practice.

Saturday, Jan 22nd, 6pm PST: Healing on High Level Hunts, for everyone, by Talin.

I asked one top healer to teach this class, and she told me to ask Talin instead, because she felt Talin was the best. I succeeded in scheduling this in the same time slot as Sunoril's class, in the hope the same people could attend both. Note that Talin is encouraging nonhealers to attend as well, I'm sure because healing effectively on a high level hunt requires cooperation from everyone. I don't know what she has planned as a field trip: aren't you curious too?

My theme for January was healing in battle. J'nder agreed to teach a class on rodding with J'jh, and I've asked for them to give me a date and time, preferably in January between the above two classes. Stay tuned for the dynamic duo!

Saturday, Feb 5th, 11pm PST: Exploration and Expedition Healing and Survival (all professions), by Omega. This is not a repeat of his last class, but a continuation, since he said he didn't have time the last time to cover everything. Harper raved about it. So enjoy it for the first time, or enjoy it again!

Thursday, Feb 17th, 7pm PST: Healers: Leading without Blame, by Brune, lecture only. One of the things Brune told me is that healers need to influence the leadership of the group, even if they're not the one in charge. Learn Brune's subtle tricks! And how not to feel guilty about using them!

Thursday, Feb 24th, 6-8pm PST: Rescues and other Mayhem, by Shakyamuni.

I gave many students my perspective on rescuing last year, and I want to expose students to other perspectives and approaches. I asked Shakyamuni in particular because he was involved in several rescues when the Rebels were in revolt on Phineas Island. It's a two hour class because of the field trip, and I can't imagine what mayhem he has in store!

Other classes not yet scheduled:

Self-Rodding and Baking, by Tara.

Chaining Beyond your Ranks, by Soul Hunter.

I'm also considering having a couple of classes which would be question and answer sessions with some healers who can teach the art. I have some commitments from ledgerholders already, but would like to make sure there's student interest and, more importantly, that good questions would be asked. If you have questions that you'd like ledgerholders to answer, discuss, and debate, let me know.

You can reach me at Puddleby Box 2132, a Sentinel Private Message, or TarynCL@comcast.net. Or, of course, in the lands when I'm not busy. :D

Changes and additions to the healer curriculum.

Omega will be following up his lecture on Explorations and Expeditions, Healing and Survival on February 5th with a field trip, Sunday February 13th, 11 am PST (2 pm EST). All professions welcome (I'm sure he'll need fighters as well as healers for his expedition!)

Shakyamuni's Rescues and Other Mayhem class is rescheduled (from 2/24) to Tuesday, March 1st, 6pm - 8pm PST.

Slyph will be teaching "Healing Ethics" on Thursday, March 10th, 7pm PST. A renown columnist on ettiquette, Slyph will address proper and improper conduct as a healer, professionalism, and other ethical issues. In keeping with her high standards, you will need to show up on time to attend the class, and will not be readmitted if you fall asleep. I think she also has a surprise at the end to find out who's been paying attention!

Tara will be teaching "Self-Rodding and Baking" on Friday, March 26th, 11:30 pm PST. That's 8:30 am Saturday March 27th GMT (her time zone). After teaching us how to stand up to creatures many times our size, I'm sure she'll treat us to her special muffins. :D

Last minute changes to the healer curriculum.

Slyph's class on "Healing Ethics" moved to Thursday, March 24th, 9pm PST.

Tara's class on "Self-Rodding and Baking" moved to Saturday, April 2nd, 8:30 am GMT (her time) = 12:30 am PST (Friday night after midnight).

Upcoming: working with Charlos, the Director of Fighting Studies, we're planning to have a series of tactics classes, co-taught in the field by a healer and a fighter instructors. From basic to advanced, these will be field trips to places like Myrm Hive Queen's Chamber, Hatred's Hollow, and Melabrion's Mines.

Saturday, 16 April, 3pm Pacific time, Talin and Garr will be co-teaching "Healing and Fighter Tactics for Melabrion's Mines" (field trip)

Sunday, 17 April, 4pm Pacific time, Sunoril will be teaching "Introduction to Combat Healing" (lecture, this is to be followed with a field trip the next week).

Friday, 22 April, 6pm Pacific time, a "Question & Answer Session with Holders of Healing Ledgers", panelists TBA.

Friday, 22 April, 11:30pm Pacific time (which is Saturday, 23 April, 8:30 am European time), Tara will be teaching "Self-Rodding and Baking". We have alot of baking supplies gathered for what should be a scrumptious class, although donations of more tangleberries gratefully accepted.

Sunday, 24 April, 4pm Pacific time, Sunoril and Paranoidos will be co-teaching "Field Expedition to Passes: Basic Combat Techniques for Fighters and Healers". While this is intended to be a follow-on course (for healers) to the lecture the previous week, to demonstrate theory in practice, that lecture is not a pre-requisite.

Monday, 25 April, 5pm Pacific time, Slyph will be teaching "Healer Ethics". (Some of us missed the excellent last class due to an orga uprising, and this is a different time slot to make it easier for some.)

Sunday, 8 May, 11am Pacific time, Omega will be teaching "Explorations and Expeditions for Healers." Fighters welcome (especially for the field trip). What healers need to know if they are going to explore, either by themselves or with a group.

Sunday, 19 May, 8pm Pacific time, a "Question & Answer Session with Holders of Healing Ledgers", panelists TBA.

Thursday, 2 June, 7pm Pacific time, Shakyamuni will be teaching "Rescues and other Mayhem" including a challenging field exercise!

Sunday, 19 June, 11am Pacific time, a "Question & Answer Session with Holders of Healing Ledgers", panelists TBA.

The ledgerholder panels are an experiment of mine, to give students a chance to talk with teachers who have alot of expertise in a specific training. Each panelist will have about 5 mins to say a few things about their specialty, and then I'll moderate questions from students. At the end of the class, students will be encouraged to sign up with a teacher (maybe the most convincing teacher!). I still have some openings for panelists, so if you hold a ledger in healing and are interested, please contact me.

Talin & Garr's class, and Sunoril & Paranoidos' class, are two of what I hope to have more of: co-taught tactics classes in the field. Students will get to see live demonstrations of good tactics, and get feedback on what they're doing well and what how they could be doing better in live action. The location will imply the appropriate level of student (e.g. Passes will be basics, Melabrion's Mines are more advanced).

Someday I'd like to teach a class on "Fen'neko Society and Manners," mostly for non-fen who seem to need a clue.

What, like which ones are good to eat? I'm sure Chicken's knowledge in bug edibility is unsurpassed!

The Ledgerholder's Question & Answer panel that was schedule for Thursday, May 19th, is rescheduled for Monday, May 23rd, 8pm Pacific. It will feature Thrund, who holds a ledger in speed healing, and Slyph, who holds a ledger in spirit recovery.

The ledgerholder panels are intended to provide differing expert views on how to train, how not to train, why, and why not.

Any lively debates are a plus. :D

Classes in Healing Studies scheduled for June.

Thursday, 2 June, 7pm Pacific time, Shakyamuni will be teaching "Rescues and other Mayhem" including a challenging field exercise!

Monday, 6 June, 6pm Pacific time, Lorikeet and Connie Crete will be co-teaching a field-trip class on healer and fighter tactics: "Tactics beyond GMV, a Waterfall Mosey".

Tuesday, 14 June, 7pm Pacific, Jo Ma'ril and Luna, supported by Falinea's Blade, will be co-teaching a field-trip class "Healer and Fighter Tactics for Hatred's Hollow". That should be an en-lightening experience!

Sunday, 19 June, 11am Pacific time, a "Question & Answer Session with Holders of Healing Ledgers", panelists Lorikeet (Horus), J'nder (Eva), and Aaron (Awaria). The ledgerholder panels provide good, if sometimes conflicting, training advice. They also have been forums for friendly debate.

Still to be rescheduled are Omega's class on Exploration and Tara's class on Self-Rodding & Baking.
