After a needed hiatus, the series of classes about the Ethereal Plane will resume next week at the University of Puddleby.

So far we have covered what the ethereal plane is, its basic layout, how to get there and find your way around and some places of interest, including the Ethereal Forge, the kyuems and the zodiac mazes.

There will be three more classes, two on the history of Puddleby, the Ethereal Plane, the 'brion brothers and why this is all important, and one on the current state of ethereal exploration.

As ever, timing is difficult to sort out for this sort of thing and not everyone who would like to will be able to attend. However, we will probably run these classes again at a different time at some point.

All the details are the same as before:

Time: 9pm Wednesday Eastern Time, every week (next class on August 14th)
Place: The University of Puddleby Courtyard
Total duration: about two hours, depending on attendance and ethereal weather.

Tentative syllabus for the final three classes:
4. History of Puddleby and the ethereal plane Part One (the 'brion brothers and the Purgatory crisis)
Field Trip: A zodiac maze.

5. History of Puddleby and the ethereal plane Part Two (the ether wars)
Field Trip: The Ethereal Tower.

6. The current state of ethereal exploration
Field Trip: Relevant sites on Venables' Island

Thank you to everyone who attended the fourth class. There was a good turnout, and though we did not get to the end of the zodiac maze due to some outdated information, we still successfully crossed through the EP twice. See you next zodiac for the next history lecture and the Ethereal Tower.

Arr isn't one of tha thingys needed for the ethereal sword puzzle around the ethereal tower? mebbe some extra credit class time for that if people are up for doing it after the general class.

Thank you to everyone who turned out to the Ethereal Tower field trip. It was a very difficult and time-consuming endeavor, but in most ways it was a great success.

We successfully traversed Umbrion's Maze, the new exile Evan'faerdan was able to acquire the Ethereal Helmet, and we successfully made it to the Ethereal Tower.

Wayfarer was able to visit the first ethereal trainer, I was able to visit the second and Var was able to visit the third. Unfortunately, Lily was unable to continue her training as we could not raise her. We hope to return to the Tower at the next available opportunity to help her achieve this goal.

Rescuing everyone from the chaotic ethereal tower sector proved difficult but we eventually managed it, with no departs necessary. Various members of our party were able to see several parts of the Ethereal Tower before we ran out of time on this very ambitious field trip. (So no time to even contemplate going for the ethereal sword as well!)

Arrr I must warn ye all ta be on tha watch fer shak ambush parties and possibly dangerous 3rd parties as who tha eff knows what the Shadowguild is really doins these days. Also, watch out for rocks.

Do not confuse this as a threat, tis but a hey... ummm yarr I'mma not gonna let a bunch of scholars get bushwhacked by tha shak on a most unpredictable place as Venables Island/Tenebrion's Keep/that Giant hole in the ground ta ethereal dooms.

Best go prepared ta slay tough shak and ethereal nasties. And dodge rocks. People should know certain areas should for safety either have an experienced rock runner or everyone should keep moving aaaand nobodies should stand next to fallen peoples when rocks are about.

Important note for people attending the final class: we may be commencing up to 30 minutes late. I intend to be on time, but it is possible I could be delayed.

Thank you everyone who attended the final class and field trip to Tenebrion's Island. And further, thank you to everyone who attended any of the classes and field trips, made notes, asked questions or kept us alive. Despite various hurdles we have had to overcome, these classes were very well attended and we got to go to many interesting places, so I pronounce them a success. Hopefully I may have inspired someone else to take advantage of the University's resources as I have.

Due to the strange properties of ether, our understanding of the plane influences the way it evolves. It may be that increased understanding of the plane amongst exiles may cause some changes to occur. Indeed, on the last field trip, several of our mystics detected a violent surging ethereal stream near the pit on TI that leads to the Annulus. This stream of ether is not normal. Various ethereal beasts soon began to materialize out of the air. Some of us jumped into the Annulus to make readings and Lily was able to detect a “violent vortex current of ether”, which I believe may be unusual for that sector. The following day, after the chaos storm, I was able to detect an unsafe torrent of ether in the Annulus, which I believe is back to normal. An interesting phenomenon, worth more investigation!
