I frequently run into feral den, and Have found it full of ferals maybe 3 times in the past year. I have gone when only 3 people were clanning, and still find it empty after hours of inactivity. When it is full, it rarely has large ferals, and uncommonly has brown ferals, which are the only real coins to be had. Stinky was right that the outside is usually more packed than inside, and in terms of coin you can make 50-100c outside the snell, and much less inside. Put mostly large ferals in the second snell with a rare giant/dire feral as a sort of boss... in the first snell, have it full of brown ferals and minor ferals, with the occasional large feral. This won't change anything, and frankly these monsters are fine for a low level party, certainly not much harder than Jannar's grove which has zerks and large ferals.

yeah I dunno about all that arguing heh, my only point remains as this:

Maybe a lower level to the feral den? 3rd circle hunting much like the Lily pond? then again, who would go to the Lily Pond and hunt the mighty swamp ferals?

make a tunnel leading to LP, filled with swamp and bog ferals, add a boss room somewhere halfway with a Dire Bog feral, give it a chest = profit.

Feral Den: make slightly tougher
Alright- I know this is a late reply and all but..
If you want to raise the stakes in the Feral Den just create a PF to a deeper cavern where something more ferocious lies waiting. Newer clanners won't have the PF AND the skills to survive it. Do I think the basic toughness of Feral Den should be disturbed for the sake of high level players? No. There's a whole freakin' world out there with all sorts of islands and challenges made just for high level players. We need something for new folks to cut their teeth on, the way you remember doing it when you were new. Make higher level accessible areas like.. Nexus(?). Easy to get to area (the well via the farms) and a PF that pretty much screws anyone who gets inside it.
I would think the whole outside muddy area is probably more difficult than the monster variety limited den anyway- those newbs prolly can't survive running around with all the junk lets not keep them out of the den too.

I think the suggestion was slightly tougher, Dylan. Atm, its often easier than outside which is kind of silly. The area would still be for the same level players.

Yup to what Daimoth said.
update: last time I hunted here (about June 1st) I saw that entry snell was full of large ferals
If this wasn't part of an update then it must be programmed to randomly happen already. 2nd snell was still full of regular ferals though.

is there any difference? For me the image is different and a bit more scary but the monster itself is ridiculousTreeBeard wrote:Yup to what Daimoth said.

diff is higher slaughter rate for a low level fighter, and a coin value that averages over 10c. That's about it I spose, maybe different AI
