Announcing "Puddleby Idol"

by Fiona » Fri May 06, 2011 4:08 pm

Recently, I was talking to Phiros about wanting to see more contests and he came up with a songwriting one that I have named “Puddleby Idol”. Here are the rules:

•The song must be original and written in CLTH notation (playable in-game).
•Songs must be original to this contest.
•Songs may be written for any available instrument that can be carried in hand. Duos and trios are allowed.
•One song per contestant, though you may submit a new song to replace an already submitted one. Please submit your song to Phiros or another bard designated to receive such.
•A bard(s) will play each song, only giving the name of the song.
•After every song is played, exiles will vote for their favorite.
•Winners and song composers will be named after the voting is tallied!

Prizes are as follows:

The Kayander Mere First Prize is 15,000 coins
Second Prize is 10,000 coins
Third Prize is 7,500 coins

There will be at least one concert at Bard’s Field at 1 PM PDT on Saturday, May 28th, 2011. Others may be added depending on availability of bards (bards wishing to help can contact me or Phiros).

Special thanks to: Kayander Mere for contributing the 1st Prize as well as Maeght, Phiros and Connie Crete for their donations to the prize fund.

Could you clarify if "song" means just music or words to go along?

Song in this contest can be with or without words.

Yes, as long as the song is written in CLTH notation (playable in-game).

I'd like to know how it went as well. I wanted to write something but didn't have time. :/

We did not have enough bards so only one song could be performed. If we can have help from more bards, we will announce one or more dates so that more exiles may enjoy the contest and winners can be selected by them.
