Several years ago when the beta housing was placed in the Fairgrounds, Harper and a few others starting kicking around the idea of a school for Puddleby. Harper with a core group of supporters grew this from a simple one-room schoolhouse that migrated to Puddleby Hollows to Arbordale and finally to the University building in East Forest.
During it's heyday, the UoP took vast people resources to make happen. For every faculty delivered hour of lecture there were many hours of support activity. At times I think there were more faculty and staff than there were students.
We mugged people to be faculty. We wrangled students. We blanketed the in game media with announcements and had a web schedule posted. And like as not, half the class was faculty and staff.
And we had great classes. Exiles stepped up and taught just about everything you can think of. You can poke around http://university.puddleby.info/ to see the old schedules. The students were generally appreciative and we charged tuition for those classes.
Those resources don't exist currently. Some part of them might be found if people really want to have regular classes again, but the demand needs to be there. While we essentially created it back when, the circumstances were unique and I don't expect to repeat in just that way again.
Creating a class is easy. You want to know something and make it known. You ask around for a teacher. You decide on a time. You might let others know about that time if you're both comfortable with having more participate. You all show up.
Fiona is the current Dean of the University. If you want to do something more formal, I'd suggest contacting Fiona and discussing it with her.
If you need help with a class and I'm around, let me know. I'll lend a hand whenever possible.
