Update: Still waiting on my eMac to arrive. . . :/

The Duck Song is one of my favorites! Of course, I'm prejudiced...

The Duck Song is the only reason we non-bards haven't risen up as one and exterminated you lot.

So my eMac came yesterday evening- Everything worked and I was super jazzed to get crackin on the composing...

But when I downloaded mTooth, the .sit file opened up as a text document with a bunch of gibberish.

So I delete the .sit from the filename, leaving the .app suffix, and 10.5 gives me the following error:
10.5 wrote:"The Classic Environment is no Longer Supported"
..am I doing something wrong?

Please don't tell me that I just dropped 100 bucks on a machine that, like my windows machine, is incapable of running the Bard software...

Sounds like you need to get StuffIt Expander to decompress that .sit. (Hope that isn't an insult to your intelligence... but that's honestly what it sounds like.)

BTW, there is also the Clan Lord Tune Helper which can be downloaded here. (It also requires StuffIt Expander to decompress.)

"The Classic Environment is no Longer Supported" error comes up in 10.5 if you try to run OS 8.6-9.x applications, which I'm pretty sure should not be the case here. (Though if it is, you should downgrade to 10.4 or get an emulator.) Regards.

No insult taken- it's literally been years since I had a Mac and I'm still shaking the dust off of that part of my brain.

I thought that StuffIt came preloaded on my system- I check that when I get home.

Thanks!

Stuffit has become an absolute bag of hurt in the past decade or so. Do yourself a favor and download the Unarchiver instead -- it handles Stuffit and just about every other compression format under the sun to boot, and it does it without installing tons of random cruft and forcing your to give up your email address.

I think Raks uses Clan Lord Tune Helper still, and I think he is using 10.4 (no classic). I'll ask him when he's around.

Should be solvable. Worst case you should be able to downgrade the OS to run classic. Try Skirwan's suggestion first.

I use CLTH and it works fine on OSX 10.4. I like it the best, since it has a keyboard thing to play with. mTooth actually became buggy very quickly for me and wouldn't let me save files so I don't use it. The CLTH from the Dwarven Militia site that Math linked should be fine. If neither of those work for you let me know, I might have some other versions of CLTH lying around.

I use CLTH in 10.5 because of my love for the keyboard. Tune Helper also works (although I have to roll my clock back a number of years to do so)

I always used mTooth, because I don't need to save my songs in a Wordfile...

mTooth has no keyboard though :) I think you'll find a bunch of us like the little keyboard.
