You weren't trolled. You didn't read the thread and you received the appropriate response.

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

The contemporary use of the term is alleged to have first appeared on the internet in the late 1980s, but the earliest known example is from 1991. It is thought to be a truncation of the phrase trolling for suckers, itself derived from the fishing technique of slowly dragging a bait through water, known as trolling.

As the one who posted an inflammatory, irrelevant, & off-topic messages in an online community your post is the troll.

Do I actually have to reply to this rubbish? Feel free to delete if obsolete..
Fogtripper wrote:-- Irel was trying to push buttons to see if she could get me to do so.
No. The response would've been the same no matter WHO'd written what I replied to. I know you're fond of examples, so here's one for you, see my answer to Dyaus in this thread; post #6. It's funny.

Take note of your own advice:

That's odd, if you'd read the thread, you would have seen that I had already answered the OP on the first page.

What does the post you're not whining about have to do with the post you are whining about?

You made a post that did fit the criteria of a troll, got called on it, cried foul?

Dude, you get a vote on the most annoying thread.

You're right Cinnamon. My post, which stated the rarity of someone being able to enter Bicks or Pucks is indeed a blatant troll. I apologize to everyone angered by the statement. How distressing it must have been, reading that Bicks/Pucks had similar attributes.

Nobody was angered that I'm aware of. You were given a fun & appropriate response. Then you decided to whine about being treated appropriately.

It was neither fun nor appropriate. I am not upset about it, I am merely using it as an example of small digs/trolls that get overlooked or blown off. Had I been the one to post it, accusations of thread shitting would have no doubt happened shortly after.

To summarize in Fogtrippers own words - if Fogtripper snarks people react because they are "sensitive little flowers" who "read into things too much". If Fogtripper is being replied to by snark he's being trolled?
You chose a bad example, Fogtripper - get over it. Alternatively, if you honestly believe you were singled out for abuse, take it to the Badlands? Please?

God, we're having a discussion, and yours was the freshest example. It's up to Noivad if he feels it should be in the badlands. If you do not like the discussion, then leave.

Actually, don't leave -- I'll tell people to leave if need be. This discussion is open to all sans flames, which no one is doing. In short: Carry on.

Just an aside. It's attitudes (and post leanings following those attitudes) that need changing. That's what I'm calling for.

I deleted the second half of the thread with Fogtripper and Iriel going back and forth, not because anyone was behaving particularly egregiously or really trolling, but because I figured they weren't useful to newbies or as a FAQ and it somewhat obstructed reading the more constructive content.

If it had been in a different forum I'd probably have let it be.

Good going. Didn't really belong in a sticky for newbies.
