I know that I am not the only person who has been raised by Algernon's Horus in TC. I also know that there are those who do not like him. Some silly exiles use Algy's services while perfectly good healers are present.

Does that excuse people picking on or taking Algy to places Like Jade Noids *(I have proof of Gorvin doing this, as well as his admission to dropping him in EP a number of times)* or the Drake Den?

I have no doubt some ruffian took Algy on a walk, and we all know Algy doesn't know how to say no thank you... He is defenseless against those who want to harm him.

It seems to me picking on the defensless makes you lower than an orga.

It would be nice if algy started to recognise those who harm him *waves* to Prue. But you be talking some mammoth code id guess  and not worth it. Taking away algy is mean but occasionally its let to a bit of fun trying to get him back again. Also if hes stupid enough to follow somone into EP then its tough i guess he needs to get some more intelligence

(i guess making it so he cant walk though EPS holes would make sense though).

Algy has proven that he can learn, if he does learn rather slowly: he ignores exiles he does not like. [OOC: Code changes of that sort are simple, not mammoth.]

Well... if we're talking about code, then we're over the line as far as an IC discussion goes.

However, the one thing I do want to point out here, is that Algernon is a Player character. I'd say he wasn't owned or opperated by DT, but he is actually owned by DT, because all characters are. So I guess I'll say he isn't opperated or maintained by DT instead.

Well if you're talking about ownership, then we are going further over that IC/OOC line. Oh, there's a huge discussion about ownership and just what is Algy anyway. Is he just space on a drive, or is he the sum of our perceptions of him, or is he hell?

Regardless of PW!C (giggle), Algy is a Player Character and those accused of picking on him are also Player Characters. Neither's behavior can be greatly changed by the rest of us or by the Ancients. So what do you suggest we do, Shaky?

Algy was almost removed from CL. Bots are frowned upon, not only by DT but socially within the game itself. Hunting bots have found themselves chained to and dumped in the nastiest of places with very little sympathy from the bulk of the populace. There is a certain amount of respect due to those whose convictions towards bots are exlusive of how cute the bot may be. And he's a very cute bot.

Regardless, Algy is Player in every sence of the word. Right down to the getting mixed up with a bad crowd and going down in a JadeNoids drive-by. We've all been there.

Well, yeah, Algy does get into trouble. And people do sorta take advantage of him at times. He's probably seen more of Puddleby than I have, though, and usually he arrives safe and sound back in Town Center. And he hasn't learned to say my name yet. Bah

He has finally learned to say my name. Perhaps I am being over protective. I have a brother that has been missing since I was left on a Sylvan Families doorstep as a child. I am not opposed to saying this may be my issue

The problem still seems to be how we as a community seem to accept this as part of our lives. I have stopped numerous people from removing Algy from TC. He likes it in TC. He feels safe there. Let's remember Algy has been on the islands longer than most of us... Perhaps if we treated him better he would be able to remember more of his history and could tell us things that we don't know... Of course the more we traumatize him the more he is going to stay damaged.

Cinnamon... My solution is for everyone to take some responsibility for protecting the poor fellow. DOn't let our fellow exiles remove him from town. Provide some social pressure to those who would do him harm by not just laughing it off. Take a stand for the right thing.

Now, I've been raised a good many times by Algy, or with his assistance. However, I don't see any harm in showin' him around the island a bit... even if its somewhere he's been before. Though town may be comfortable, who are you to say he doesn't get tired of it?

There is a difference between taking Algy around town where he can't be hurt too bad, and taking him to Jade Noids or to the Drake Den...

And you know it Kani... It's one thing to stick algy in the voting booth, and other silly stuff... and quite another to leave him to get eaten by worms in EP

There's also a difference between Jade Noids and the Drake Den. Shouldn't you waddle off to the Den and bend the drakes's ears as much as you have bent ours? Let them know exactly how you feel. Hold nothing back. I'm sure once they get over the surprise of finding a plucky halfling in their midst they will welcome you graciously and have you for dinner.

Algy is an evil spy.

He's been spying for the Darshaks, the Emperor, the Orga Chef, Qual, the 'brions, Chum, the Marsh Hermit, Horus, Lord Dodge, the Greymyr, and Pogue Mahone for years and years and years.

He's filthy rich.

Algy should be kept in town.

In a cage.

Blindfolded.

I'd suggest hanging him by his thumbs, but then he wouldn't be able to Cad.

Oh, and Odes? >Mittens< has seen more of the lands than you have.

Algy no longer listens to me

People who try to protect Algy ruin the game more then the people trying to hurt him. IfI may, If you a true blooded Algy protecter who will do anything to save him because... he's algy, Have no right to critisize other people. in this case YOU ARE WORSE THEN THE POGUES! at least they have a shred of dignaty

P.S. you shouldnt be able to resq Algy by suing him.

Algernon getting taken places adds flavor to Puddleby. It'd be like if the town crier was sent to the Orga Outback ever once in a while, but people cared.
