iClan Feature Survey

by Skirwan » Thu Jan 22, 2009 10:13 am

I'm planning the next version of iClan and I'd like some feedback on what features do and don't get used and what features I'm missing.

To get the thinking started, a few questions:
  • Do you use the 'watching for a party' feature?
  • Do you ever sort the player list by anything other than time?
  • Do you use the CL-integration (share, info, thank) menu items?
  • Do you collapse the player list window?
  • What version of OS X are you running?
  • Do you have iClan set up to launch automatically at startup?
  • Are you aware of how much Noivad rocks?
Floor's open. Try not to annoy me.

Just downloaded iClan.

For new users like me: Could you add some hover-text to the buttons below the list? I'm not exactly positive what <3 button will do.

More as I start to use the program. This looks cool, Skirwan, hope to see the next version soon.

To get the thinking started, a few questions:
  • Do you use the 'watching for a party' feature?
Do you mean the "notify when X friends are online" option in Preferences? Yes, I do.
[*]Do you ever sort the player list by anything other than time?
I usually have it sorted by clan. Sometimes by name is useful.
[*]Do you use the CL-integration (share, info, thank) menu items?
Not sure what they do. Are you going to make me read the documentation?
[*]Do you collapse the player list window?
No.
[*]What version of OS X are you running?
10.5.6
[*]Do you have iClan set up to launch automatically at startup?
No.
[*]Are you aware of how much Noivad rocks?[/list]
Yup.

Would it be difficult to use Growl's preferences? I use the Bubbles display for all other notifications. iClan seems to override my choice and use Bezel.

Neat, but largely useless. Available only to Mac OSX users.

I mean the 'notify me when there are three fighters, two healers, and a mystic online' option. Somebody asked for it -- I can't for the life of me remember who -- and I still don't see the point. I'm wondering if anyone else does.

It isn't ignoring Growl's preferences so much as it simply isn't using Growl. It might in the future. Seems kind of appropriate I guess.

And each and every time a Windows user acts like a total dick, I just get more and more inspired to do a Windows version.

Do you use the 'watching for a party' feature?
The what? Oh, I don't think it'd be useful to me.

Do you ever sort the player list by anything other than time?
Yes, I sort by name most often, and sometimes by clan.

Do you use the CL-integration (share, info, thank) menu items?
The what? I'm going to have to look at that when I get home.

Do you collapse the player list window?
Once in a while.

What version of OS X are you running?
10.5.whatever is current

Do you have iClan set up to launch automatically at startup?
Of course, who doesn't?

Are you aware of how much Noivad rocks?
Of course, who isn't?

Hey there, we know where that language belongs.
I got like CodeWarrior5, does that help?
I said it's neat!
:P

In the current version, the heart button marks someone as a friend. In the preferences window you can set iClan to notify you when friends log in. The next version will extend and modify that somewhat, though the exact nature of the changes is TBD.

Tooltips are a good idea. On the list.

The notify when a friend logs on or off is probably the feature I use most, I love it.

[*]Do you use the 'watching for a party' feature?

I didn't even realize that is what it was supposed to be.

[*]Do you ever sort the player list by anything other than time?

I only ever have it sorted by class. I find it very useful when looking for healers, etc.

[*]Do you use the CL-integration (share, info, thank) menu items?

They take forever to use, and I don't see why I'd need to do it from iClan anyway.

[*]Do you collapse the player list window?

Nope.

[*]What version of OS X are you running?

10.4.11

[*]Do you have iClan set up to launch automatically at startup?

Nope.

[*]Are you aware of how much Noivad rocks?

Except he doesn't!

Not really. I think I have before, but only for the novelty.

I use the "notify when any friend connects" option
[*]Do you ever sort the player list by anything other than time?
I don't know why you'd want it sorted by time. I do it alphabetically.
[*]Do you use the CL-integration (share, info, thank) menu items?
Nope. Don't even know what those are.
[*]Do you collapse the player list window?
Sometimes.

[*]Do you use the 'watching for a party' feature?
No
[*]Do you ever sort the player list by anything other than time?
Yes. Class, Clan, Name…
[*]Do you use the CL-integration (share, info, thank) menu items?
No
[*]Do you collapse the player list window?
Yes, most of the time.
[*]What version of OS X are you running?
10.4.x to 10.6…
[*]Do you have iClan set up to launch automatically at startup?
No but that's only because I'm too lazy to add it to my start up items (and to my restore images). Launching it manually once in a while (ie, when I do have to restart)…
