It has come to my attention that some people would like the option of being able to pay less than DTs yearly fee to play CL because they, in reality, do not intend to play consistently at any time for the whole year. Instead, they only want to play at specific times to catch specific events. I have two alternate payment plans that might suit some people better than paying for yearly plan that they will not get real value out of.

1. Consecutive Day Plan - Any 3 consecutive days per week for say 40 dollars/year
2. Weekend Plans - All weekends in a year for 30 dollars/year

Prices may vary, other ideas welcome.

$80 isn't that much if you already like the game. Reducing it would just make DT go into the red that much faster.

Of course, for most people who haven't tried CL, paying anything at all is too much. They see a ton of MMOGs available for free.

If you are tired of the game and don't feel like playing it much, the price isn't really the issue. It's just that the renewal date will roll around, and you won't be willing to pay anything because you never play.

Yep, there are already several people that pay for 2 accounts. The annualized rate is dirt cheap.

Interesting proposal since you can then access the open hunt and not just be on standby at tc or coining.

I should add that this is not for my personal gain since I clan at 2 hours a day (for now) and am more than occupied by activities that others might consider mundane like coining. I get much more than my 80 dollar value per year from this game. However, some people play this game by buying a years worth of time and using the equivalent of about a months worth. That is not a good deal. Its like being forced to buy a 100 dollar phone plan with 800 minutes on it but only talking for 100 of those minutes. The people concerned, who would benefit from this proposal are the types who are probably going to leave unless they can get a better deal for themselves. What's better for DT and for CL, having someone leave with multiple accounts altogether and lose all that money or have them stay and pay somewhat less for somewhat less time? It seems to me we can hardly afford to lose any more people. Besides, it is my understanding that all or most of the GMs work on a volunteer basis (could be wrong about this) so the cost of the game is running the server(s) and other related stuff, which cannot be much more than 5000 dollars a year and I think all of the accounts on CL (I am guessing there are about 100-200 active accounts) make for DT, considerably more than the cost of running the game. Of course, I really do not know, so I could be entirely wrong about this. Either way, I think my alternative payment plans are valid.

A reference has been posted to Joe saying it's about $500/mo to pay for the basic cost of operating CL. $500x12=$6000 a year. 100 accounts at $80/year ($6.67/mo) is about 10% more than cost, not in what I'd call the considerable range. I'm not counting the income from services like character slots and misc what not. I'd be surprised if the number of paying accounts on a monthly basis (some people lapse for a month here or there) was that much higher.

Put in a cheaper plan and a few people will take advantage of it, limiting their participation here even more. It's already dirt cheap. If we need a tiered plan it's for people willing to pay more for things.

if I am not wrong the election of the fen president has been by more than 350?

The incentive to take that partial account come from the lack of open hunt (or else?).

On the opposite to have a full account is very useful to have the character get ranks at least at the lib.

Hehe, Fafnir, I'm glad you like the Open Hunt. You know, anyone can start one. Pick a time, publicize it, and be there every week.

why is there only one per week (or zodiac)? As for me i am rather weak, don't belong of any robust clan and have little success to even join a hunt.

Newman, if those people are hardly ever playing, then they are probably on their way out no matter what. Even for the free month for returning players, fewer and fewer come back each year. When a relationship ends, you shouldn't keep chasing after the person with promises that you'll be better. You just have to move on.

Fafnir, you don't need me to organize it. Do it yourself. It really is the easiest thing in the world. Just be consistent in showing up every week, and get the word out.

I think most people have several alts. I discounted the income from those since you spread those over 10 years.

This vote has little meaning since it seems to resume to a drinking party but why not restraint that to the main or one character per account?

The search of this thread is a way to find a way to play significantly not only full or nothing.

Fafnir, I would be more than happy to help you organize another regular Open Hunt. Trust me when I tell you that I myself am not a big draw. The hunts are a success because people want things to do, and if they hear about an opportunity, they will show up.
