For the moment we've only heard that his death was sudden, startling. If anyone hears some details, perhaps they could be posted here, as Randall had many friends in the game that would appreciate some news.

What had at first seemed a rumor making its way through the playerbase the past few days is unfortunately true: the person that played K'pyn, a character in the Lands longer than most of us, died in the night between January 31st and February 1st. The player's ex-wife contacted a Clan Lord player by email, and another player left a message at K'pyn's home, only to receive a confirmation from a relative later.
For the moment we've only heard that his death was sudden, startling. If anyone hears some details, perhaps they could be posted here, as Randall had many friends in the game that would appreciate some news.

I know that several exiles are talking about creating some sort of memorial or monument in-game. I think it would be nice to do something along these lines.
I never met Randall in person, though we did swap a few e-mails, and Para certainly spent a good amount of time with him in-game. I was surprised and stunned when I heard the news. Before the Ripture War, when he was known as Kingpin, he was a frequent player in the beta test, pushing the limits of training and contributing to forming the world in those early days. He was no less important after the beta, and I think he added a lot to Clan Lord.

The GMs and Delta Tao are sorry to have to confirm this sad news. Many of us knew K'Pyn, as our GM characters as well as under other names. We offer our condolences to all those who knew Randall and his characters. His contributions to the game world will be missed.
If someone would like to coordinate the ideas for a memorial, collecting suggestions, taking a vote, perhaps soliciting sketches for any proposed artwork, and so on, Eldon has offered to lead Delta Tao's assistance.

He will be greatly missed. Puddleby will never be the same without the one and only ToD. I'm glad to hear he will be memorialized. Personally I like the idea of having him take over Evus's post in the fighter hall- he was always my favorite trainer and I think it would be a fitting way to remember him.

I did not know Randall that well, but we had attended some of the same local parties and CL get-togethers, and I spent more than a few hours talking with him.
I'm sorry to hear of his passing, and I hope an appropriate in-game memorial can be created.
I'll miss you Randall.

Devestating news, he was such a fixture of Clan Lord, for so many years, it's hard to imagine things without him. It has been many long years now since I first began playing, and he was here before I was. We are an atenuated, virtual community, members come and go, sometimes vanishing suddenly, without a trace. But we are a community nonetheless, and for all that many of us did not know him personally, this sort of sudden, irrevocable departure leaves a huge hole in the fabric of all our lives. "We live on the razor's edge."
Kingpin was the first Thoom to ever choose to make a name for himself as a fighter, rather than as a healer.
In terms of a memorial of some sort, I will point out that K'Pyn's clicker was an Archer in real life, and through out the history of Clan Lord had been a strong proponent that Archery should be included.
As it now appears that his dream is being realized, perhaps some aspect of that could be fashioned into a memorial of sorts.

I liked Randall too. I met him when we had a Clan Lord get together and 'talked' via ICQ and emails several times over the years.
I was very surprised to hear the news and greatly saddened. I just don't expect people "my age" to no longer be here.
*sighs*
He will be missed.

Thank you so much for opening this topic, Slyph. This is indeed shocking news. Kpyn will be missed. He was a CL fixture.
we can keep in mind that just one thing doesn't have to be chosen. Maybe there can be more than one thing.
Sir West's clicker didn't die.. the char did. Kpyn didn't die, the clicker did. So a grave next to west doest' really make sense to me.
As for evus, I'd suggest that rather than replace Evus with Kpyn, let people train Kpyn's mix of training. Have there be a Kpyn trainer. Kpyn was very proud of his training. I think this would be something he'd like.
Finally, it might be good to put something out where everyone can see it. Healers don't have access to the fighter hall.
