"Yesternight A Darshak by the name of Kurt Bentarm descended on Puddleby. He claims to be a pirate rebel leader, and met with Illora Mone among others. What was discussed is unknown. What is known is the following. Kurt was followed by other darshak to Puddelby. He and his men, those he could keep control of, aided Puddleby's citizens in defeating a darshak invasion.

During the battle, {blood splatters cover up a few sentences}...

I then escorted Kurt to the North West beaches to get reinforcements. While on the way, we were attacked by various Darshak. We managed to kill or injure most of them, and get to Kurt's men. Once we rendezvoused with them we made our way back to Puddelby where we encountered several extremely dangerous Darshak. With the help of Kurt's men the citizens of Puddleby were able to kill the Darshak.

After the battle, Skirwan an Althea got into a verbal exchange about Strongarm, with Skirwan insistent that he could not be trusted, and Althea, suspicious, but taking the other side. Several other bystanders weighed in on each side.

Kurt and his men were taken to the Southern outpost and given food and drink. Sometime later, Kurt was being escorted back to his ship by several exiles and they were ambushed by at least 12 Darshak Sentries. I managed to arrive in time to rescue the exiles but Kurt was nowhere to be found. It i assumed he fled on his ship, because his body was not discovered among the dead. Kurt's remaining men remain in the outpost. I have requested that citizens let Kurt's men rest there until such time as we can figure out what to do with them. They are now resting there and will not attack unless provoked.

Several facts relating to this case are unclear. Did Kurt and His men lead the other Darshak here and switch sides? Or was he chased from Ash Island, the Darshak stronghold. Or is it an elaborate ruse to try to discover the our secrets and defenses?

With the help of several Exiles. I've managed to implant several suggestions into Kurt's mind that will hopefully safeguard {blood splatters cover up the next few words}... future Darshak scrutiny, if it indeed turns out that Bentarm is a spy.

I am instructing Deputies to keep an eye out for Bentarm and I am going to perform a search of the neighboring islands."

Is this a schism within the Darshaks' ranks? How did a sword-arm of the Darshak, along with several of his men, all sworn to service of the Darshak... a legion of necromancers turned to piracy... suddenly have a change of heart, or is he new to their organization and magically saw the error of his ways. You do realize that there are probably certain hideous cannibalistic rituals needed in order to climb the corporate ladder of Darshak LLT, so this man having altruistic or harmless intentions is unlikely. This all seems rather fishy to me.

To clarify: I'm willing to trust him that he represents a rebelling Darshak faction, I simply don't agree that that automatically makes him our friend. Sometimes the enemy of my enemy is also my enemy -- the new Orga tribe have been at war with Bartok's crew for quite some time, for instance, but that doesn't stop them from attacking us.

On top of that, it's very clear that Bentarm led his crew to Puddleby knowing that we would have no choice but to defend them against their pursuers. He could have sunstoned us and requested assistance (we know the Darshak have sunstone technology) but instead he choose to lead a raiding part to our gates and turn his problem into our problem. So we already know that he's willing to use us as is convenient to him -- what evidence do we have that he wouldn't stab us in our collective back if it suited his needs?

None, but he also could become the first real ally we've ever had.

Assuming no more of his crew get 'stabbed in the back'.

I'd be willing to trust him and let him pitch up tents outside of town, but eating from the same table.. that would require alot of evidence on his part that he can be trusted.

Do these rebels still even exist? Last I checked the south forest outpost didn't have any guests.

Boy, for being a group of exiles, some folks are rather picky with the company they keep. To think of all this distrust while some are willing to pay obscene amounts of money to learn the most recent mental mutterings of a elf-skin-scroll owning mostly-dead 'brion.

Folks with longer-term memory will recall us being fine and dandy with Ex-Qual taking his retirement in our library.

To each exile his own. You have not seen me groveling at no 'brion's feet. I am a member of the Navy, so I've helped with killing Dar'shak, and perhaps that's where some of my mistrust comes from. Be lucky that I didn't suggest their camp being in the Abyss.

Your hatred seems to be blinding you to the potential technology that we could learn from them and benefit from.

Seriously though, why the insults? I didn't do anything to you, yet you are insulting me. I'm just trying to piece together a puzzle, and you go all 'high moral ground' on me. I'm as apprehensive about Tenebrion as you are, I'm just listening for what he has to say.

I am merely pointing out that while some are making decisions based on level of trust, others are not letting that stop them. I am all for learning from wherever knowledge may be. Your group distrusts Lugubrion but is deeply interested in Tenebrion (my venom for Tenebrion himself is what you see peeking through when I speak of him). Some are voicing distrust in these rebels, yet they may have something to offer of value.

I haven't tried to push my opinion onto anyone, just stating my own and how I feel. Feel free to gather knowledge wherever it is, but don't expect everyone else's personality to be the same as yours. I do not trust the darshak any further than I could chase them down. Due to the fact that others may want the knowledge they have, I am trying to abstain from this conflict, I was merely saying I feel that it will turn out to be a fight and that I will do everything I can to purge the Darshak from Puddleby after they prove they can not be trusted yet again.

I was just merely stating that say we are wrong for disliking them and not trusting them and we are throwing an oppurtunity out the window to learn something. You were trying to say we should accept them, I was saying accept them if you want, but as for me, I am won't but I'll do what I can to not get in your way if thats the way you feel.
