Turning off private messages?

How do I turn off private messages? I just discovered I had a message from back in October, but it's probably too late for my response to do them any good.



Idealy, I'd want anyone who tries to send me a messages to be told "This user does not accept private messages at this site. You can email them directly at...."

I don't see an option to turn off Private Messages. However, there's an option "Notify on new Private Message" that sends you an email when one occurs.
