Encore of Kerrah's Class on Skinning Fun.

by Kerrah » Tue Jul 17, 2007 8:53 am

I will be teaching a class on skinning fun and tactics on Saturday, July 28, at 12 pm PDT. I will probably resurrect my lecture from the one I taught last year. Participants will meet in the brewery at Noon and move on to the University lobby. Lecture will be followed by an in-field demonstration in the Valley. A pathfinding TA would be very helpful, but not vital in an absolute pinch.

Requirements: None. However, if you are a fighter that doesn't have the Atkus to hit Valley creatures, please understand that we'll only be able to hold the creatures for tags for a limited time before they'll need to be killed, to keep the hunt moving at a brisk pace.

Fees: None, although donations would be appreciated (by no means necessary).

Did I say that? No, I didn't think so. In the past, university classes had lecture fees, and I was saying that they were waived for my class. Some people feel compelled to tip for such things though.

What, would you prefer I donate all proceeds to the HealerGM fund?

No, but if you really want to get involved in the University, you could check on how they used the fees they collected, etc. Just seemed tacky for a high level skinner to make people think they should donate. (Yeah, "donations would be appreciated" has that effect.)

(fixed typo)

Gee, maybe you could teach a class on tact. I'm sure it would be a smashing success. Perhaps "Lorikeet's Class on How to Be High and Mighty Just Like Me." Just throwing it out there as a suggestion.

Anyway. Back on topic. I hope to see anyone who would like to hunt valley and who enjoys getting coins to join me for this encore class. And lest there be any confusion, there are no lecture fees, only profit for everyone! Any donations received will be donated to the worthy cause of outfitting a worthy, true newbie to Clan Lord with a weapon or sunstone (I'll pay for it and let everyone know here who is the lucky recipient).

Besides, hopefully there are going to be others who would like to teach classes but don't have my level of income. Those same people might not want to charge a lecture fee, even though they could really use the donations.

This sets a good trend for potential future lecturers.

I believe the university collected a modest fee for classes, and paid its lecturers a modest amount. The lecturer could keep the coins or donate them to the university. If memory serves, it was something like 30 coins for the class and 100 coins for the lecturer.

Then if the University does get revitalized, with classes being taught through an official sponsorship on behalf of the University, then fine, if that's how they would like to continue to charge those fees, that's how it will be.

Since I'm kind of circumventing the University in order to get a jump-start on this and see if there is actual interest still, I get to name the rules. In this case, I'm not charging fees but instead putting any donations toward outfitting a newbie with an item they might need.

I'm not typically the philanthropic type but this seems like a rather worthy cause, no?

Maybe instead of taking coins, each student should donate a log or stone to the builder there? that way it directly helps out the university.. imo all classes should be paid for that way.. more students.. stuff gets built faster.. *shrug*

Speaking of making money off of education, I think the SNN staff should teach a communications class and receive nominal ridiculous fees for their time. All in favor?

Not a bad idea. And I'll be sure to donate to that builder once Nate's done.

Would the fees go toward buying you a better microphone for future SNN installments?
