I would just like to say that after reaching 189 pathfinding ranks, with an amount of time spent getting those ranks that could be measured in days, I can now open a two-way path from the meadow to the south farms and a two-way path leading from the orga village to some dead-end area in the orga outback with strong orga.

Wow, that was SO worth all the hard work. Congrats! I'll be sure to keep you in mind when I'm in the meadow next time. I'll get on ICQ, ask you to come out, wait 20 minutes til you come back to your computer, have you run to south town to PF to the meadow, and PF me back to town.
What a time saver!

If we could unfuck PF to just use set rank numbers for paths, we could then change these trainers to only offer 1 rank. It really sucks having to dump rank after rank into PF. Everytime we find a new trainer there goes another 10 ranks. Having it be just 1 would suck a lot less. Its the getting there that is the hard part anyway.

Heh Meph, you mean the 3.5 RL years we spent tracking down the PF trainers was wasted as you don't like the meadow shortcut!
Mike i think the PF fix is being looked at by GM's so it's more normal and less random, am i right GM's ?

It goes beyond making it less random, the number of ranks is really starting to add up. And we are going to tack on another 10 everytime we find a new trainer? You are almost forced to get the additional ranks, or the ones you already spent become far less useful.Fundin wrote:Heh Meph, you mean the 3.5 RL years we spent tracking down the PF trainers was wasted as you don't like the meadow shortcut!![]()

Having it be 1 rank instead of 10 would have the same function in the end.

Seriously though, what is the point of all this PF training? Like the hut in the north side of KI... previously "full" pathfinders have been seeing the sparkles for ages, but even after getting Trillbane, Meph still can't go through that path. Not that I think there's anything really special there, but pathfinding ranks (especially those that have to be obtained by going through mega-clusterfuck areas) should give useful paths.
If I'd trained as much PF as Meph and others, I'd be super-pissed now.

Ta be 'onest, I agree with Michael an' Kerrah. I think that 'avin' ta find all those pathfindin' trainers jus' ta get ranks that don't really work ain't worth it, unless ya want ta get tons of profession ranks instead! I do ok without pathfindin', sure, it takes me a bit longer, but I don't mind!

I'm okay being able to open the path to the colored dorf helmet, zo armband, and thoom eyecolor seller area. Was worth it.

There's a mystic illusion back there that leads to the invisibility-cloak seller, BTW. Seems to take a pretty strong illusion-breaker, though.Jeepers wrote:I'm okay being able to open the path to the colored dorf helmet, zo armband, and thoom eyecolor seller area. Was worth it.

I think the best Zo-ification would be something like "Harrunk Pott".Kerrah wrote:Oooh, touche!xepel wrote:I'd bet money on "Harry Pottunk."Kerrah wrote:In other news, Skirwan is officially changing his name to Harry Potter.
And the invisibility cloak is fine, but the deluminator is even better. Mystics are going to be sooo jealous.
