All attempts to clear that snell ended the same way and everybody soon gave up and stopped going there. Tenebrion, who's spirit had been drifting away there for several days eventually just vanished.
Yesterday, when PTF got to one north of the Annulus snell and started luring it was immediately apparent the snell was still packed. Throughout the luring and killing process we had some close calls, including one really close call that forced us to flee back to PI. But somehow we eventually managed to clear the snell. I think we killed somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 Clouds, 25 Golems, and 15 Seracs. With the snell clear we were able to get a closer look at the Annulus itself. There appears to be a huge "crack" in the Annulus and Tenebrion is fallen inside of it! The Annulus has an invisible barrier surrounding it so we couldn't get closer. There's an opening on the west side but entering it transports you back to the PI/EP4 entrance. We had Org du Lac with us but he isn't ethereally trained which is perhaps something that is needed there.
We're wondering if this "crack" is the source of all the ethereal incursions and if perhaps Tenebrion either caused it somehow or was trying to repair it when it felled him?
As interesting as all of that is I heard some information from people that were there yesterday that would *appear* to point at how to end this insanity. Why this information hasn't been posted anywhere before I don't know for sure, although it may be due to various people only having pieces of information and not the whole picture.
Anyways, here's the scoop. There are nine known incursion locations. We've closed six of them. The ones that don't get closed keep cycling through the order until we close them. The three locations that remain are NW Beach, GMV, and North KI. So basically what this means is any further incursions will happen in those locations, and only those locations, until we close them. If last night's incursion in the GMV was successfully dealt with we'd be down to just two left. Also notice the nine incursions sites matches the number of ethereal spheres (nine). A coincidence? I doubt it.
So there it is. This could be all wrong but it certainly doesn't sound that way. People have been complaining about this seemingly neverending onslaught of incursions (and rightfully so) because nobody seemed to know what we're suppose to do about it or how to bring an end to it. The simple answer now seems to be successfully deal with just three more incursions.
Unless an ethereally trained mystic can do anything in the Annulus snell, and I'm betting they can't, I'm guessing that closing all nine incursion locations is probably the only way to rescue Tenebrion, should we care to.
