Today we stabilized an ethereal portal just south of the southern east farms (top of mirror column SF). This is quite close to town, so it's risky in at least a couple ways. First, these portals are not just entrances to EP, they're also exits, and sometimes ethereal beasts come out of them (for example, Portal Island's portal), particularly if exiles lead the way. This suggests to me that Puddleby may be invaded because of this portal, and that risk may increase over time.
Second, you just know that some people are going to slip in there, or jump in for the hell of it. This can lead to time-consuming rescues, and possibly cause invasions.
Malkor suggested we contract someone to build walls around the portal. I'm not sure that's enough, and maybe the whole snell should just get blocked off by trees or something. Either way, what do people think about whether we should do something to try to neutralize the threat this portal poses?
Two notes: if the response is "let's not," then I propose that we try to form an understanding that anyone foolish enough to use that portal and jeopardize our town can expect a depart. Also, I'm not saying we shouldn't have stabilized that portal, but I would say we should think about whether a stable portal poses more or less total risk than an ethereal instability.
