One thing about Champs I've always found confusing. They're supposed to be the "brick" sub-class, right? So they're supposed to stand there and take hits while others beat on the critter from behind. But they have this fell blade, which gives them a bonus if they hit from behind. What are they supposed to do, drop the critter on a mystic so they can get behind it?

Hm. Rangers, afaik, get the family bonus (at whatever level they've studied) for whatever critter is in the test. For example, if you have the full family bonus (+1 atkus, +1 darkus per gossamer rank) for the orga family, and there's a "captured whatever orga" in the test, you get that bonus against that critter. If you have less than full family, you get whatever you have. So it seems to me Champs ought to get something. Fell bonus would be hard (impossible?) to use, I think, since it's hard to get behind critters that are attacking you. Maybe just the passive 'ite bonus?

But in all seriousness, the fell blade should do more damage from the FRONT and maybe flanking from the side.
Sinclaire liked the sound of champion, but that ended when I informed her that champions get bonuses for attacking creatures from behind instead of being like a tank.

You're describing the Rel'lblade. Talk to Rel'lim about that. He's been looking for one for years.Destian wrote: But in all seriousness, the fell blade should do more damage from the FRONT and maybe flanking from the side.
Bahzell is going to go Champion, in spite of the fell blade silliness.

Champions get armor run speed in tests. And, I guess, the passive earth'ite bonus. You can't activate it, though.

I've been "more than halfway" on the 7th circle test for roughly two years (OOC). Even after a stint of over 150 straight Faustus I can't seem to make any progress on that wretched test.
Oh, well... it's not like I'm planning to wear the shirt anyway... Hehe
Thinking it'll come a bit more naturally once I train the 200+ Respia I'm short to counter all the Faustus. I don't know. I suppose if I was actually concerned by the test I'd have well more than 350 Higgrus by now.

As near as I can tell, Lorikeet is the only one that didn't just train up the Faustus and Higgrus, put on their armor and run up and hug Glory.

I have one which consists of Lorikeet running around like crazy and healing Glory in between fire, if you want it. Can give me an email on ICQ.Cecil wrote:Anyone have any links for a video on passing the 8th circle healer test!

Does armor help against the firebursts?Maeght wrote:As near as I can tell, Lorikeet is the only one that didn't just train up the Faustus and Higgrus, put on their armor and run up and hug Glory.

I don't know. In spite of the fact that Thrund did nothing but hug Glory, I didn't notice. I was also training a long stretch of Higgrus, so that probably helped obscure the effects of the armor. But to the best of my knowledge, no healer has passed 8th the first time without it.Nunul wrote:Does armor help against the firebursts?Maeght wrote:As near as I can tell, Lorikeet is the only one that didn't just train up the Faustus and Higgrus, put on their armor and run up and hug Glory.

I'm quite certain armor helps in all the tests, including 8th, but I didn't test it specifically. It cuts damage, so it makes sense that it would.Nunul wrote:Does armor help against the firebursts?Maeght wrote:As near as I can tell, Lorikeet is the only one that didn't just train up the Faustus and Higgrus, put on their armor and run up and hug Glory.
