Mutated Spores for WBP

by Zynx » Mon Oct 09, 2006 12:22 pm

Heya Folks

I would like to suggest that WBP (Water Breathing Potions) have their recipe slightly altered. Instead of having regular spores in the mix could you change it mutated spores?

An alternate suggestion would be to have WBP made with regular spores and a Water Breathing Elixir (WBE) made with mutated spores that would be a little more potent.

As a final suggestion perhaps we could have a few shrooms start dropping regular spores again along with mutated spores. (I have heard rumours this already happens but have never recieved confirmation -- if it does already happen perhaps you could crank up the drop rate a tad?)

SDC!

If you changed it to non-mutated spores, then it'd be a coffee breathing potion.... and who'd want to breath in coffee? (Though the aroma would be nice....

It is like it is because it works like that.

If it wasn't like it is, it'd be different.

No, it is like it is because that's what the GMs determined the recipe to be. However, in the big change-over from RHP to RHS (so that fighters can't heal people on their own, the horror), a lot of potions which used to use "common" ingredients (regular spores) were made a whole lot harder to make. Many of these have changed - even Beer Bread is now made with mutated spores. There's no good reason for Water Breathing Potions to be made only with "old spores," and your justification for not changing it is not valid. (Why is <x> the way it is? Because that's the way it is!)

So, yeah. Just make a slightly modified WBP that uses mutated spores, or "reformulate" WBPs to use mutated spores.

As someone who can make the potions, I have to say, I can understand folks wanting them to be easier to make, but I also know that I would rather see more regular spores drop than change the formula.

Sheesh Xep, the humor of my post is lost on you.

And who wants to drink New Coke when Classic Coke is so much better?

I'm not against changing it, hell, both options of mutated or non-mutrated sound good.

Sound's like Mary has a good solution too.

Weren't WBPs brought into the game a lot later than mutated spores? If that's the case I can see the change in the beer bread recipe, but it might not apply to the WBPs if they were brought in after.

I think we just need a new wandering alchemist NPC(like ma tota or some such) who can transmute mutated spores into normal ones for a set price.. umm.. only doable one way though.. cant make normals into mutants.

I haven't been to Peacetown in a while, and I don't know what's involved in making WBPs. Having said that, I wonder about the reason for using regular spores as an ingredient. Is it because regular spores are common in Peacetown, and Peacetown is the most common location where WBPs are used?

WBPs now use mutated spores, thankfully.

Close?
