If you're having trouble with the automatic downloads, you can get everything you need by hand. All the latest clients (except the Java one) are in

and all the current image and sound files are in

If you have a recent set of images and sounds, you can download the matching update files instead of the full ones. Unpack them if necessary (by dropping them on StuffIt Expander) and put them in the folder next to your client.
