It's probably not far from working: it can connect to the server, it displays the messages and the inventory, has all the prefs, etc. Nice work!

We know the currrent Java client doesn't work properly on a Mac, at least not in 10.3.8. There's no need to report that. I've been told that fixing it on a Mac is not the highest priority, since of course there are other clients that work perfectly well there.

OK. I'll try it on PC thenAnn wrote:We know the currrent Java client doesn't work properly on a Mac, at least not in 10.3.8. There's no need to report that

I hope to test this this week. I'll post my findings if I actually get around to trying it out.Bob the Archer wrote:Id be very intrested to know if someone is sucesfully running the java client on a Linux platform.
Isn't the fact that anything runs on Windows pure chance?Hor wrote:Its my understanding that the Java Client is developed on Linux. That it alsoBob the Archer wrote:Id be very intrested to know if someone is sucesfully running the java client on a Linux platform.

Lots of things run on Windows, just look at the list of viruses I've had on my PC.Relkin wrote:Isn't the fact that anything runs on Windows pure chance?Hor wrote:Its my understanding that the Java Client is developed on Linux. Theoretically. I always thought it was more important to get it to run for people who have no other options, though.Cinnamon wrote:<snip>Relkin wrote:Isn't the fact that anything runs on Windows pure chance?Hor wrote:

Isn't the point of java that it works regardless of platform?
No, there are no plans to discontinue the regular Mac client, and I can't think of any reason to run the Java one on a Mac. The Java client is an extra bonus version for people using other platforms, or for those who prefer it to the Windows version when that is finally finished and released.Cinnamon wrote:So is there a point to running the java client on a Mac? Is this the future of CL, regardless of plaform?
No, the Arindal people are working to get a Windows client, which should be usable with CL eventually. I think that's one reason they are doing an Alpha test now instead of a Beta test (I can't remember if I read that in English or in a Babelfish German version heh.)Mjollnir wrote:There's going to be a windows client too?
