I remember another incident there where he did the same thing to me, after thinking I was clicking Baker's Man.

Right so I made a single suggestion about applying the rules consistently (either allow people to use 2 accounts or not). It was moved to its own thread, given a parochial title (branding me as a whinger - hey lets all bag out Sonny in this thread) and has now received 3 pages of hate mail directed at me (during my complete absence from the game and the forum).
Seriously... some of you need to stick your fingers out and realise how shit your comments make me feel. I'm an actual person behind the keyboard who has detailed his personal struggles in other threads (believe it or not, my personal life is pretty hectic and I don't suddenly become a machine when I login to CL or these forums). To stick the knife into somebody who is struggling (whether you feel it is 'their own fault' or not) is a really shitty act and says a lot about some of you guys (who keep thinking you have the higher moral ground).
Honestly, I'm looking for a reason to stay other than the fact I've put so much effort into my character (so don't wanna lose my progress in the game). Nobody likes me here, everybody thinks I'm shit at playing and people have made it clear they don't want my presence during hunts.
Take this as you like, I've heard Zelk's constant 'you're not the victim' jibes. I won't be online for a while and probably won't check back (looking forward to 10 pages of discussion about how prople think I'm a shit person on here - yaaaay) but it's something I'd like you to think about in that time... why have so many pages of anti-Sonny content popped up if there is absolutely no victimisation?

3 pages of hate mail? There are 33 posts in this thread (this one included) of which only 7 were directed at you, that's about half a page. Most of the thread was a discussion about double clicked healers or botting. I agree the title isn't very elegant but it's not inaccurate.Sonny_Bill wrote:Right so I made a single suggestion about applying the rules consistently (either allow people to use 2 accounts or not). Yes, well welcome to the internet. This is by far the nicest and most inclusive online community I've ever seen. A lot of people (including myself) have been very patient with you and tried to explain to you that your behavior is driving people away. Social interaction is essential in this game.Seriously... some of you need to stick your fingers out and realise how shit your comments make me feel. Regarding my signature; if that offends you, you can just say so and I'll take it down.
You're part of the Open Hands clan. They're probably the nicest, most patient people you'll find and they will include you in their hunts. That's a reason to stay.Honestly, I'm looking for a reason to stay other than the fact I've put so much effort into my character (so don't wanna lose my progress in the game). Nobody likes me here, everybody thinks I'm shit at playing and people have made it clear they don't want my presence during hunts.
Also, me saying that you should be banned for botting has absolutely nothing to do with you. I would say that about everyone. IMO creating a bot while you know that it is against the rules (you made a thread asking for it to be allowed) is essentially a giant middle finger to the GM's who've spend a lot more effort into this game than you've spend into your character. Again, botting is drastically different from double clicking.
Regarding the clicking: everyone sucks when they start playing, that's normal. I've never seen anyone being excluded from a hunt because of their clicking abilities. You claiming that you're better than "many of the most experienced players" comes across as arrogance.
Again, there is no anti-Sonny content; people are criticizing your actions and behavior.Take this as you like, I've heard Zelk's constant 'you're not the victim' jibes. I won't be online for a while and probably won't check back (looking forward to 10 pages of discussion about how prople think I'm a shit person on here - yaaaay) but it's something I'd like you to think about in that time... why have so many pages of anti-Sonny content popped up if there is absolutely no victimisation?
Regardless of what you think, everyone wants new players to stay, even you. Virtually everyone is in favor if rank acceleration for new players.

Okay I lied, I've checked back. In summary...
- 3 Pages of comments where people are selectively criticising one's actions (accurate or otherwise) is excessive. Put it whatever way you like... I think this thread is pretty toxic and encourages people to criticise things relating to me (with no voice of balance/reason saying 'hey give him a fair go for once, I know you all hate him but...')
- I'm happy for you to use me as your signature... I guess it's a compliment that you find my quote so amusing. In context my point was that I get absolutely no credit for the acrobatics I have to perform in order to join current-level hunts (using a circle 4 character). I stand by my comment.
- Nicest online community? Please tell me where else you hang out and I'll avoid those places. I think it is a very CLOSE community because it is small, many people know each other in RL and many friendships are 20+ years long. However, I still feel like a complete outsider after 3 long, hard, grinding years.
- Yes Open Hands is good and I can name a few others from outside it who are awesome. However, they are the exception, not the norm. The norm SHOULD be that when somebody's struggling people go 'what's wrong mate?' or 'here... have a helping hand' (otherwise, people will rightly kick the bucket and walk out). A character like mine is disadvantaged in so many ways, and yet when I get frustrated there's no consideration of what's going on in my head. There's no consideration of how hard I'm trying, how massive the power disparity is, how challenging it is to click current level content with a circle 4 character or how people can make me feel more confident/happy/included.
- I've had a few dummy spits, yes (again with no consideration of the sustained stress/frustration that caused them). I'm awfully tired of people focussing on them and blaming me entirely rather than looking at the root cause. I've concluded that I'm viewed as being the root (and only) cause... and that nobody gives a fuck about my experience of the game (calling me 'new' really doesn't give justice to what has been an extremely painful and tiring 3 years).
I know you guys just see this as emotional blackmail or whatever but it's my honest opinion. There is little/no way forward for me and my characters under the current environment. Saying I'm the problem because I don't quite fit in is a parochial argument that completely ignores the 3 long, hard years of effort I've put into this game.
My characters will remain 'alive' in some shape/form and I'm sure I'll get the twitch to login occasionally (within my super busy life). However, without a paradigm shift towards a 'nicer' community (think Open Hands style comradery as the norm rather than what happens when Coldy's online) then I simply don't fit in. Yeah sorry Borzon it is me... not you guys. Best wishes and thanks for keeping such an awesome world alive (even if it isn't one I fit within).
Maybe this is the paradox, and Sonny has finally been sent back to the mainland? I dunno, but time to move onto the next chapter.

People gave you a bunch of ideas, most of which you turned down. Everyone agreed that the game has a horrible entry curve and lots of people tried to help you. The best way is to get a mid-level character from the many people who have dozens of 2000-3000 rank library characters, re-name it, untrain it to your heart's content. Yeah, it's not really "zero" but it's basically identical to everyone's suggestion ("let people buy new characters with 2k ranks on them to spend over a month or so as they learn the game"). Yeah it's super hard to click a fourth circle character. It's not very fun for you (you can't hit anything and die all the time) and it's annoying for everyone else too (they have to wait for you to tag and monopolize healing power, slowing down hunts). I don't know I've even been on more than a couple hunts with you — it's a general thing to any low-level character, not specific to your clicking. I mean it's like being a mystic, except I don't try to tag things very often.Sonny_Bill wrote: - Nicest online community? Please tell me where else you hang out and I'll avoid those places. I know you did accept a couple characters, but you stuck it out with your character, which is understandable but there's also no way to really help you there without 5 other people also re-rolling new low-level characters and hunting with you in level-appropriate locations.
The current crop of GMs is so far removed from Delta Tao that I think they're worried about fundamentally changing the game, which means solutions need to be player-based.

Sonny, some unsolicited advice going forward: it's not what you say, it's how you say it.
You could be writing some highly profound wisdom of infinite depth, but if it comes out sounding like you're a broken, unstable, self-pitying jackass then no one is going to notice the glimmer of insight lost in the blackness of that fucking ego-abyss.
You know that saying, "if everyone's an asshole, maybe you're the asshole"

A lot of problems can be solved simply discussing.
Sonny, as I proposed you few months ago, I'm open to discuss with you not via this forum but in game.

I don't know where to start.
If this was any other internet gaming community, Sonny would be flamed/tarred/trolled and banned.
He acts this way because he knows he can get away with it.
There are other places to hunt besides the village, and regular hunts he could join. Instead he complains about how we're not nice enough when we don't babysit him after showing up expectantly to hunt(and/or afk/coin leech... don't think I didn't notice) in one of the highest level areas in the game.
You know what happens in close communities? Word gets around.
Ranks are a minimal factor in the alienation you have created between the community and yourself. Specifically based upon your pattern of paranoid episodes followed by attention seeking for perceived(and promoted) victimization.
We're nice. We're tolerant. We're not fucking idiots.

Yeah, and when you are a dick to people, flip out on them, BK bomb them, send them repeated messages filled with paranoid blather that is not grounded in reality... it shows your true colors. Especially when it becomes a pattern.Sonny_Bill wrote: I think it is a very CLOSE community because it is small, many people know each other in RL and many friendships are 20+ years long. I heard about your episodes, and saw you focus them on other people. I think the point trying to be made is that there's a lack of self-awareness on your part that aggravates (and sometimes even births) the majority of these personal issues you are complaining about, re:clan lord vs. you. This is confusing, since despite this lack of self-awareness you aggressively expect people to be hyperaware of your own experiences and tend to you appropriately.
This is why I keep saying, "maybe it's you" and "you're not a victim".
So far, you've been erratic, paranoid, confrontational in-game and, inexplicably, you've even made the choice to publicize yourself this way on the forums. I'm not sure what you were expecting -- would you want to be friends with that? Not many people would. It's a lot of work.
People generally want to like other people. You're making it challenging for folks to like you.

Your populist attacks on me in my absence and your obsession with trying to paint me as an inherently flawed person (rather than looking for common ground/solutions) demonstrates you're just looking for an easy target that you can get away with attacking.Zelkhorn wrote:I think the point trying to be made is that there's a lack of self-awareness on your part that aggravates (and sometimes even births) the majority of these personal issues you are complaining about, re:clan lord vs. you.
