The auction house was very popular for ages -- by far the longest lived of the "functional" houses in town except for storage (e.g. compared to court or post office or voting etc).
Right now it only sees activity when people stop paying their storage fees and all their items go on sale. However, it was active for many years for ore, kudzu bags, RHPs, ulis, metal, etc. I recall it only really dying down in the past year or two years.
One way to bring it back might be to add much longer timers for how long items stay up there. Right now I think it's 2 days, maybe 3? What if we tripled the amount of time an item stays up, i.e. such that everyone has a chance to see it? And if the auction house was populated by GMs for a month or two as a "stimulus" while people get used to using it again? i.e. just stick a bunch of RHPs and metal there, and maybe one flagship item like an announcement token to get people in the door.
