What are YOUR priorities for CL (in order of importance)?

by Destian » Sun May 03, 2015 8:34 am

Let's make some lists, just to get an idea of what people think would be important for the game and HOW important.

Here's mine:

1. THIS, or something that achieves the exact same function.

We all want to see more players in the game (Joe does as well, last I checked), and I think the easiest way to make that happen would be to remove the key reason people have for not logging in: Logging into CL when there's no scheduled hunt is actively HARMING your exp gain. I'm only 5th circle and even I try to only spend the necessary amount of time out of the library that allows me to hunt and make enough coins to stay in the expensive library. Exp is very slow in this game, and you want to salvage every last drop.

If we can make it so players aren't losing exp by playing the game, we can give them a reason to log in to "just mess around" in CL, and that's when hunts happen at random and when older players could be there to help newer players, which brings me to the next point on my list...

2. Save the newbies!

We get so few newbies, and those we do get are usually out of here in a matter of weeks (maybe months), but the sad part is they're not leaving because they don't like CL. On the contrary, many of these newbies LIKE CL and similar games. It's that they quickly learn that CL doesn't like THEM (what with no progression path available other than the library, especially for healers).

So yeah, give us newbie accel or something that will allow the player base to rapidly progress new players to a point where they can join the community. We've lost some really cool, nice folks because it just became clear that CL wasn't going to let them play with the rest of us for years and years. Why stick around then?

3. More STUFF!

I love stuff. I love finding stuff, doing stuff, monsters dropping stuff, figuring out stuff, etc.

I've noticed that, by general rule, the death of any MMO for me is when it becomes entirely predictable. That's one of the reasons I love skinning so much: it adds a random element to hunts that's fun to watch for (especially when you manage to recover a huge fur).

But there's no reason not to add lots of random elements to the game in the form of more things to find in the wild or things monsters can drop. Have monsters drop things that we need to bring back to town to be examined (similar to ore), or have them drop pieces of things that can be assembled, that kind of thing.

More random happenings not only means more reason to go out and explore, but it also means more reason to revisit older hunting grounds just because you never know what you may find there.

Even a scavenger hunt NPC who wants a different item every few hours would be great.

So yeah, that's my list. What would folks here like to see for CL first and foremost?

My priority is to be the best at something. I don't really care what.

I've promised not to ramble so much and focus more on the game, so I'll be quick.

Personal priorities:
1) Ramble less and hunt more.
2) Hit 400 BB ranks and start hunting current level content on a regular basis.
3) BEER!

For the improvement of the game/community (mostly opinions rather than things I can actually do... hence not all that important that I spend my limited game-time focusing on them.) But hey, people like me have a lot of have far-fetched dreams:

1) Do something that will allow more newbies to get involved.
2) Expand the game outwards rather than upwards... if that makes sense? There's a heap of what I call 'dud clues' that could lead to something cool, but instead after weeks of investigation, people find that they lead nowhere. IMO it would reduce confusion if the mods either got rid of their or made them do something useful.
3) Radical, but open source the client so that it can run on more platforms and people can build more logic-driven bots that contribute to the community. This would, for example, allow users to create their own shops/social hubs/specialty stores, create 'bases' for players in common hunting areas (with healers and/or people selling goodies such as salves.) IMO a headless, scriptable client would be AAAAWESOME!

If I didn't already give you a fresh ranger because that's what you wanted 6 months ago I'd give you my overpowered BM with 900 bb. Honestly guy I'm just trying to get more people into high level hunts that want to be there and will come reliably.

I think that's what we all want.

We just really shouldn't have to be "baking" prefab characters in order to make it happen. :\

Rest assured that the ranger has helped out a LOT and is greatly appreciated. I would not have passed circle 3 without that ranger and I doubt I would have regained my interest/composure.

Unfortunately my timezone and personal commitments both mean I'll never be reliable for hunts. However, more and more I'm finding that I can hang around TC and join ad-hoc hunts as they happen. The advantage of my timezone is that on weekends I can sometimes catch 3 hunts a day because I'm so far out of whack with everybody else's clock :D

I know how that feels.

I was going to go on the daily hunt today, but then I got called to record a Star Wars-themed car commercial, heh...

1. Get Joe to respond to inquiry about my forgotten password so I can jump online for a while.

2. Fail circle test

3. Head back into the library and wait for Crowfall and Albion to release.

If you seriously want to get back to ClanLord (for whatever reason I have no idea) you should try eldongm@gmail.com instead of Joe.

Updated priorities... IMO I'm actually a little bit ahead of schedule. Now that I'm circle 4 with 536 BB (and a few 'mage' ranks because I wanted to dabble with magic) I've re-assessed my priorities.

1. I want to hit 1000 BB so that I can hunt yellow (maybe even 800, I'll re-assess when I get there). Everybody says 'TRAIN HISTIA!!' but I think hunting yellow will give me more bang for my buck (and also make me more useful because I'll be able to do some serious damage if need be - being just a tagger s*x... it's a good feeling when I have higher darkus/atkus than most and can deliver crucial blows to tricky creatures).
2. Train ~100 feign ranks so that I can use feign properly (and use it as a survival technique).
3. Train 1000+ histia and regia (maybe using a combo trainer).

I shoulda listed my clicker's goals too. In the time it's taken me to reach circle 4, he has:
1. Finished his law degree.
2. Been married.
3. Had a baby.

I feel that these achievements are almost on par with me reaching circle 4 (which was an absolute fluke BTW).

I bet you could hunt on yellow with more Histia. You certainly wouldn't fall as much, because even on red you would be stronger.
